FARMCRAFT KALBAR NAMED CRT COMMUNITY MEMBER OF THE YEAR

Farmcraft Kalbar has been named the CRT Community Member of the Year. Awarded to the CRT member who has shown the greatest level of commitment and support for their community across Australia, it is a very prestigious and highly competitive title.

Community support is a focus for the CRT group and the award is designed to encourage and reward those giving back to their communities. An integral part of the Kalbar community for 25 years, the team at Farmcraft continue to work alongside their community to enable it to thrive. The winner was announced at the recent CRT National Conference, held in Perth. “It was really the huge variety of contributions they made that made them a stand out nominee,” explained Greg O’Neil, Ruralco Executive General Manager responsible for the CRT network.

Farmcraft support a number of local organisations, including the Fassifern Cricket Association, Fassifern Falcons AFL club, Fassifern Men’s Shed and the Beaudesert High School. “We support all of these groups because we know how important they are in bringing us together and strengthening our community,” explained Alistair Ross, Managing Director of Farmcraft Kalbar.

A willingness to get involved and donate time as well as financial support also contributed to Farmcraft’s win. “It really is about more than just financial support. We believe it is important our CRT members really get involved and spend time getting to know their community members and the team at Farmcraft Kalbar are a great example of this,” said Mr. O’Neil. With staff volunteering their time to assist local football clubs and the Rural Fire Service, the Farmcraft team have become valued members of their community.

This involvement has led to an understanding of the community and an ability to rally those around them in difficult times. When a young local was seriously injured in a car accident, they united their community to raise funds to support his recovery. “It was a really upsetting event but we knew it was important to channel our emotion into doing something proactive,” said Mr. Ross.

He commended the efforts of all of the staff at Farmcraft Kalbar in securing the award. “It is an honour to work with such a great bunch of people who are so community minded,” said Mr. Ross. “We are incredibly honoured to have won the award but it is the response we get from our community that truly makes our efforts worthwhile,” he said.
