Liquid paraffin is a clear, almost odourless oily liquid composed of saturated hydrocarbons that come from petroleum and has been widely used for many years for the temporary relief of constipation in animals Batttles Liquid paraffin acts as a laxative by softening and lubricating the faeces.
It can also be used as an aid to removing bot eggs from horses legs. Avoid prolonged use.
Intial treatment of colic is by administering a paraffin oil drench via a stomach tube.
